Movies have always been something that has been a huge part of my life, I quote lines from movies and tv shows in my day to day life and love a good chat after watching a movie for the first time about the plot, the characters and director, I owe a lot of my love for the cinema to my nan and my old friend William.
I was obsessed with the behind the scenes of the production of them as well, I adore commentaries and miss the fact we don’t have them anymore on DVD’s, its probably why I am currently really into film commentary youtube videos and ‘watch with us’ type videos.
So when I saw this daily prompt I had to join in and write about movies, I did talk about The Movies that Made Me which I discuss the films that credit as ones that make me who I am today but this one is going to be slightly different.
So here are…
My Top Ten Movies
in no order, as they are all good in my opinion and often change when new films come out.
1 – The Wizard of Oz – I put this as one of those films that made me who I am, its something that has always been a top ten film for me, and now that my children have watched and enjoyed Wicked, showing them basically the origin story that inspired Wicked I have shown them the magic of Oz.
2 – Moulin Rouge – I saw this film around three times in the cinema, I am big fan of musicals and when I saw this one a spark ignited in me that hasn’t gone away. I always try and convince people to watch it along with Baz Luhrmann’s other films which by the way are also fantastic.
3 – Jurassic Park (and its sequels) – Dinosaurs are the best, fact and Sam Neill is of course still the best. I talked a lot about Jurassic Park on in my movies post, I can talk for hours and hours about this film series, We saw the most recent movie Jurassic World Rebirth in the cinema which was good. I just love Dinosaurs
4 – Rocket Man – Elton John’s Biopic starring Mr Lovely arms himself Taron Egerton, I have been a fan of Elton John since I was 8 years old and my aunt gave me a CD. I listened to the soundtrack on repeat after I saw it and even my children know who Elton is and love hearing his music

5 – Event Horizon – Literally the only horror sci fy film that can freak me out to this day, it is a thing of its time of course however it has been one of my favourite early 00’s films.
6 – The Alien Franchise – Speaking of sci fy horror, Alien and all the other movies and tv shows that have spawned from it have always been something fun to watch, currently sitting through the new TV show in Disney Alien Earth and so far so good.
7 – How to Train your Dragon – One of two films that can successfully make me cry, my children and I went to go see the live action in the cinema and lets just say I was an utter mess from the second I heard the opening music, I cannot explain why it makes me so emotional and it was funny when Amelia turned to me and said ‘I knew it!!!’ when she saw my face.

8 – The 28 Days Later franchise – I am calling it a franchise as there are going to me more films based around the rage virus, I am a big Danny Boyle fan and I believe when I saw 28 Years Later in the cinema I had a bit of a different experience than everyone else and I cant wait for what is to come next.
9 – Train to Busan – Neil got me into Kdramas and Korean Cinema, I however had seen Train to Busan on a recommended to watch list and decided that I was going to watch it with him, Koreans just do zombie cinema perfectly, its a heart breaking film that I always recommend people to watch
10 – Cornetto Trilogy – Another one of my director heroes Edgar Wright, Neil and I went to see the 20 year anniversary showing of Shaun of the Dead in the cinema and it was just perfect, Edgar did a little video at the start thanking people for the support of the years and it was just amazing seeing that film on the big screen once more.

And there you have it, 10 films that mean are the best, in my personally opinion and in no particular order, what are your favourites? do you have similar ones to mine?
