For a little while now I have been struggling to keep my cat Atlas happy when it comes to his meals, he is partly fed wet and dry food however what I have noticed during the summer months is that he really goes off the food that I usually provide him, which then annoyingly attracts flies.

I saw Katkins advertised on my Instagram a while ago and I decided to give them a try, Katkins pride themselves on keeping things fresh and meaty, reminding us all that the cat is after all a carnivore and their diet needs to contain some sort of meat product within it. Before I tried katkins Atlas’ diet wasnt just purely Felix or Whiskers, but he also jumped at the chance to sit by my feet while I cut up any sort of meat for dinner and would of course get some in his bowl.
Katkins main goal is to get more fresh, wholesome food into our cats diets, as most of their health issues stem from what they put inside their bodies, and having lost two cats previously from things that they ate as you can imagine I am big on keeping things healthy to create a happy pet and amazingly the food they provide for our feline friends is meat that is human quality, slowly cooked and then frozen to keep in the nutrients, not that I would want to try Atlas’ food ha.
So really the choice to try it was not a hard one to decide, We got a trial offer first which gives you a small selection of their fresh cat food that you are required to freeze and defrost as you go along, signing up is pretty easy and you have to share what kind of diet and cat you have, Atlas is a handsome tabby moggy so his diet was as normal as can be.
The first introduction box arrived well packaged with little freezer packets inside a biodegradable packing material that you can even use to bulk out some bedding for the furry friends or even leave outside for the birds to use for their nests, all packaged and perfectly sized for storing in the fridge and once that has been eaten up your subscription to them begins with a big box of yummy treats for them to enjoy.
I adore how they package their product, with cute little cat facts around the box and silly little jokes about ripping the box open how your cat would, along with your pets name on the front of it. I always wonder how many odd names they postman has witnessed when he delivers the boxes around the place, and the box itself was surprisingly heavy which I wasn’t expecting, but I guess with the amount of food we received for our first proper box then of course it was heavy!
We also got to pick a little extra to try, these are chicken sprinkles that you can sprinkle over the food to add something extra, Atlas loves this little extra added treat to his meals, and what’s also wonderful is that they also offer boxes for kittens as well as freeze dried chicken bites, We are going to add them to our box close to Christmas time and use them as Atlas’ advent treat.
All in all I am so glad I tried Katkins, I have noticed that I am wasting less food than I used too and his poo (lovely subject I know..) hasn’t been as smell as it used to be, which is one of the benefits Katkins fresh food provides.
and Atlas is pretty happy too…

Have you tried fresh cat food before?
