At the start of May I was feeling a bit sad, my son had decided to move in with his dad leaving me with just the girls and our large cat Atlas, now I dont mind him going of course as its his life and he can make those choices and I was more than happy to let him decide what he wanted to do. It doesnt stop me from having emotions and feeling sad about it, However it instilled in me a need to mother something and as I wasnt at my target weight yet a baby was out of the question, so after a long chat with Neil over a couple of weeks we decided to adopt a dog.
I have always wanted a pomerainain, I think theyre adorable with their cute little faces, fluffy fur and adorable curly tail, Neil wanted to get a Samoyed but due to the fact that theyre far more expensive, he said yes to a Pom, Now I understand the importants of adopt dont shop, however due to our lives and situation no place that allows you to adopt the many dogs that desperately need a home would let us take one home, Neil lives in a flat and while I do have a house my gardens is either to small, or they cant be with kids or other animals and I needed to think of my children and Atlas as well.
We went onto a few different sites that sell puppies, asked a few people and only had two replies, so on a day off we took a trip into Hemel to visit some cute little pups, We was very aware of what some people do when they sell puppies and had plenty of red flags to look out for and sadly for the pups we first saw they had clearly been puppy farmed, the woman who we got them from just kept making excuses and refused to let us see mum and dad and when she did she only let us see her at the window, feeling a little defeated as we just wanted to make the right choice Neil messaged the other seller who, depsite it being super last minute was happy for us to come a long and see her litter.
The difference was clear, we met mum and dad, who wouldnt even let us into the house as they kept licking us and wanting cuddles from us and three adorable little pom pups, these were family dogs and you could tell, at one point dad was playing with one of the pups and mum told him off which was pretty funny, the family who had the dogs were lovely people, they explained how they had planned to get mum fixed but ended up with a suprise litter, we penciled in for the little girl and went home to discuss further, The breeder took the pups to the vets for a check up and microchipping and Neil put down the deposite to secure the girl.

On saturday the 16th of May we went to go and pick her up, we had done so much spending on things we need, a pen, crate, puppy pads, toys bowls and beds, Paris, the breeder gave us a litle puppy care kit, which included some food and other things and we took her home, shes going to live part at mine and part at Neils until we live together.
Her journey home was uneventful, she sat in the front with me inside her carrier and while looking a little worried, was also very curious about the world, once she was home she explored Neils flat, had a few accidents but did use her puppy pad to go toilets and due to the fact of the big change was very cuddly.
At this point she has been with us for over a week, she has learnt her name, learnt to sit, to leave and is slowly being trained to get used to being on her own when we go to work, Robin adores her and will happily play with her whenever she visits mine, Amelia doesnt really like dogs as she said she is scared of them but has let Penny sniff her, Penny is facinated by Amelia which is sweet. I am sure over time Amelia will like her, shes not going to be a huge dog and Atlas… well… hes in the same boat as Amelia, however he will come into the room when shes around and has stopped trying to make himself as big as possible when he sees her.
In a few weeks she will have her second round of injections and she will be able to go outside and learn of a much bigger world and I am excited to show her it all.
