Movies are our life and spooky movies definitely a must at this time of year, obviously I am going to keep this post just do the fun and spooky films that children can watch with their families, I do have a whole other post coming with films of a more adult nature..
But I wanted to share with you some of our favourite spooky movies that me and my children watch during the spooky season.
Our spooky movies
- Scooby Doo – honestly how can you not watch and enjoy Scooby Doo, this film came out when I was in secondary school and I adored it and so do my children, it’s funny but most importantly just scary enough to get the pillows out to hide behind.
- Curse of the Wererabbit – this is my ultimate favourite film, I love Nick Park and his animations, The wererabbit is a cute and fuzzy take on the typical werewolf movies with Wallace and Gromit taking the lead, and according to my children I can burp like the bunny!

- Hocus Pocus – a slightly more older children’s film but a good one one non the least, I don’t really like the second film however we all seem to enjoy the first Hocus Pocus and I think we’ve all thought ‘oh look, another glorious morning.. it makes me sick!!’
- Corpse Bride – I know I know, why not A nightmare before Christmas, well I prefer Corpse Bride more, I feel that it’s so beautifully directed and shot that it’s just magical, the sad story of the bride who finally gets her peace is just lovely and it’s a sweet and spooky story for the children to enjoy.

- Casper – another one from my own childhood, who didn’t fall in love with Devon Sawa as a young teen, however the older I get the more I prefer Kats dad ha! The ghosts always get the big laughs or the longest ‘eews’ and it’s still such a fun movie to watch.
- The Adam’s Family – how could I forget them! Family values is the one I watched the most as child myself but they both have a rotation of films we watch, Thing is always a firm favourite with us and we often do our own ‘thing’ on the table tops
What are your got to spooky kids films for the season? Are any of mine your favourite
