Painting Cat Masks // Arts and Crafts

For a little while Robin has been asking to design and create some masks that she can use for a future YouTube channel, the girl has big dreams that’s for sure, So one day while in town we popped into the works to grab some art supplies to get creative with some arts and crafts.

While we was in there we found the perfect masks, she has this idea of a cat mask and had been sending me lots of links to masks that she found online that were nice but sadly either one of a kind and expensive, I wanted to try and just create our own with what we had had home, Whilst in the The Works we picked up some new paintbrushes and some mini canvas’ for both myself and Amelia to use to do some painting on while Robin designed her masks.

The paint that I got was from amazon, Originally I got it for Kai for his school work as he does art for GCSE and we had completely run out of acrylic paint and water colours and the paint I chose was Artecho paint which as I said I found on amazon for a pretty good price, I naturally decided to get the one with the most colours as I have a little bit of a too much gene but figured in the long run it would mean there was plenty of options.

The masks themselves were in the children’s craft section of The Works and as they was only £1 we grabbed two, however will be going back for more at a later date to create even more fun cat masks and with the paint and brushes in hand she got started creating her designs, Robin said she wanted to make a alien cat and a space cat, picking the greenest of the green paints she covered the first cat mask, getting me to snap photos of her progress as she went along, Amelia and I sat and painted our canvas while she was doing that so we had a fun little painting afternoon together

Robin then started on the second masks and made it out into a tuxedo cat at first but said she was going to add purple where the white parts are, We stopped for a bit to have some lunch and allow the masks to dry before going back an adding in the final touches to them, adding final details to the space cat and alien cat, She has further plans to add glitter and possibly some feathers to them but much like the paint, I am having to order in some more pieces for future rainy craft day plans.

I truly like the works for their canvas blanks and craft items, We often head down to Hobbycraft to get things for craft days however given that The Works is a lot closer for me I try and get in there as much as I can to collect items for our art box.

and as you can see Robin created some lovely masks! Looking forward to getting dirty again and creating some more during another arts and crafts kinda day.
