Self Care at this time of year is so important, with the dark nights drawing in and things getting chilly, it can make you feel down, extra tired or lacking any oomf to get up and go, self care in general is something you shouldn’t shy away from at any time of the year but more so in autumn and winter.

Self care season!
Self care can be different for everyone, one persons ideal self care routine can sound weird to another but the main thing is that you take time for yourself when you are experiencing times that can cause stress or even when you are feeling not yourself, Here are some of the things that I do that can help me.
- Using your favourite skin care products – I am a bit of a Lush fan, more so this time of year as they tend to bring out all the lovely Christmas stuff, mainly snow fairy, I do like how they have created more in this line however my favourite Lush product is Sticky Dates, it smells divine and makes my skin feel lovely
- Watching movies – Movies are a big self care for me, every Sunday when my children are with me we pick a Disney film to watch and cuddle up on the sofa to enjoy it, it gives me a chance to show my children some of my favourite films and a chance to get under the blankets and chill
- Gaming – I have mentioned my love for gaming on my blog before, I have an xbox and a switch and often I play RPG’s as a way to relax, on my switch at the moment I have been playing Stardew Valley and Pokemon Violet, While sometimes they can be a little frustrating.. I love being able to immerse myself into another world for a little while.
- Naps with the cat – My cat Atlas has been featured here and all over my social media, he is a lovely tabby cat who enjoys cuddles, and more so when I nod off on the sofa, While I do wake up sweaty as he is a mini hot water bottle, his company is always enjoyed.
- Going on walks – I like walking, and when I go for walks I take my camera with me as you never know when the opportunity for the perfect shot appears, I have been trying to remember to take my camera with me every time I leave the house when I go for walks with the children and this time of year everything just looks so pretty with the colours on the trees… plus the pollen is all gone as well ha
- Watching your comfort show – same with the films, my comfort shows are Buffy and Top Gear/The Grand Tour, I do rewatch them sometimes when I am feeling anxious and they do make me feel so much better.
- Enjoying a treat – I don’t like the term ‘treat’ as we aren’t dogs, however enjoying something once in a while that you love that’s tasty can do the world of good, my go too treat at the moment is White chocolate malteasers and I am so happy they’re back after being away since 2010, I remember being obsessed with them when I was pregnant with my first child and having them back in my life is lovely, they are also not that bad in the calorie sense so I can still enjoy them and be within my deficit.
and that’s it, obviously as I have said every
ones self care season is different and these are just some of the things that make me feel a little bit better as the weather gets colder and the nights draw in. However I rather like the darker months as it just feels so cosy.
What are your self care seasonal tips?
