In our home we try and do crafting when and where we can, most of the time it’s drawing and jewellery making however I decided to get Amelia and Robin to help me make some decorations that I made and wrote about many years ago.
It’s a really simple decoration that can add something pretty to windows that get sunlight often and thankfully I had all the pieces we need to do this.
What you’ll need

- Tissue paper (we used orange yellow and red)
- Baking sheets
- PVA glue
- Pair of scissors
- A black sharpie
As I said making the decorations is such a simple thing to do, the last time we did it my children who at the time was in primary school and they loved this activity and it brings some of the autumn leaves that fall outside, inside.
Before you do anything start cutting and ripping up your tissue paper, irregular shapes are best but we grabbed our scissors and cut them up as it was just a lot quicker, we did cut up more than we needed however it can be used to make more if we decided to do so.
Firstly you need to cover pieces of the baking sheet with the pva glue, you just need to cover it a little at a time, adding the pieces of cut up paper on top of it, randomly scatter about how you like until it creates the effect of a sun catcher, once that’s done add another layer carefully over the top of the paper so that it can harden enough to keep a shape.
Leave it all to dry for at least a day or until the white pva glue turns clear and hard, then you can get the sharpie and draw whatever leaf shape you like and cut them out when you are ready.
We stayed above the black line so the outline stood out a bit more against the window and stick on to the glass with tape or blue tack
We are going to do something similar for different seasons and different colours and it’s such a fun and easy way to add decorations to windows and around the home.
Do you like doing crafts this time of year?
