It is officially that time of year, when the home gets decorated with spiders and cobwebs (more than usual) and all things pumpkin.
Every year now we have visited Hatters Farm for our pumpkin purchase, and every single year we’ve been the experience has just got better and better! I booked up our tickets once they went live on their website making sure it was on a day I knew we could completely waste there, I did originally want to try to attend the evening events however almost all of them had sold out already which was a shame. But no matter we still got tickets to go collect our pumpkins for carving.

Pumpkins at Hatters Farm
Hatters farm is a real working farm just on the outskirts of bishops stortford, every year they host many events allowing the public to come along and enjoy the area, during the spring and summer months they have a confetti field full of beautiful flowers to wander through and photograph and of course in the autumn they allow people to go into the fields and pick pumpkins, this year they have completely gone all out with the decorations and photo opportunities.
All through the main area are pumpkins of different colors laid out in a pattern, almost like a pumpkin maze that you can walk through, these pumpkins are unfortunately not for sale but act as artwork for all to enjoy, like last year they had a house that was made out of pumpkins but it was much bigger as well as a huge mountain stacked tall with pumpkins! it was pretty impressive.
The layout this year is much different than the last, the field where you can go out and pick for yourselves has moved to the front of the farm allowing for more space for things to do, in the middle part of the field was the path of pumpkins as well as my favorite, the huge metal smoking pumpkin and lots of other things to explore, we walked through it and towards the food trucks at the back and got ourselves some warm doughnuts which were honestly delicious and devoured by all.
Further back from the food trucks was the maize maze and the famous pumpkin cannon, we decided not to do the maze this year purely because we forgot our wellies however we most certainly did the cannon! Amelia was the best out of us shooting the minion target many times
And finally we walked through the fun and spooky house with clowns and glow in the dark painted rooms which we did go through last year but I cannot resist a scare house!
Before we headed home we decided to enjoy some marshmallows on the fire pits, this little area also had lots of food trucks that all smelt so yummy, I think if we had come a little bit earlier we would’ve had something from them but we had our lunch before going. But no matter there is always next year and we are 100% coming along to the patch in 2026.
We walked over to the field to finally collect our pumpkins, in our barrel Amelia put a few baby ones that we can use for decorating the house but we got three rather large pumpkins of different colors, I am in charge of carving one of them into our Pokémon go team and had said to the children that they need to find a tall one as it gives me more room for the pattern
I think they picked well.
Payment was cheaper than I expected considering the size of one of them and all came to £21! Which isn’t too bad.
All in all we had such a lovely little day out, enjoying all the spooky sights and ending the day filling our bellies with the local Toby Carvery!
Here’s more photos I took from Hatters Farm
