We love a rainy day, there is something so calming and relaxing about the prospect of staying in and getting cosy doing some rainy day activities while the weather outside rattles away at the windows, and while the weather at this time of me writing this is currently in the high 20’s why not share what we enjoy during the wet and gloomy days.

One of our favourite activities to do when its raining outside its usually snuggling down with a nice film and plenty of snacks, We usually pre plan movie nights, however sometimes Amelia will come to me and ask if we could go get some popcorn in the rain and get under the covers. How can I say no?!
I am very much of a homebody so the answer is always yes, followed by grab your shoes lets go get some snacks! Now movies isn’t an activity, its more like a way to wind down after a long day of doing other things, and often whenever we do have movie nights, its after we’ve done something outside of the house like bowling or visiting family.
Another thing myself and Amelia very much enjoy doing and that’s drawing or something arty, She and I guess myself are really into Taylor Swift these days, so with my phone playing her songs we sit up the kitchen table and waste away an hour just drawing and creating. I used to draw all the time growing up and I am so glad one of my children loves doing it too and holds a talent for art. She’s even said she would love to do it as a GCSE which I am fully excited to support.

To be honest with you, I could probably sit and draw even on a warm day let alone for rainy day activities
Gaming, We are a pretty big gaming family, my son has a gaming laptop and steamdeck that he uses to play with his friends, we have an Xbox in the house and we all have a nintendo switch, but there’s two types of gaming that we enjoy which is electronic and table top..
Robin my youngest recently got some games for her 8th birthday, one of them is animal crossing and some evenings she and I will sit and visit each others islands and share recipes, Amelia has an Animal Crossing island too but doesn’t play it as much as we do anymore.
And on the note of gaming, we also have fun with some table top gaming as well, Neil has brought lots of fun games for family game night which get enjoyed regularly, Amelia is fond of UNO and we’ve got Kai to start our own D & D campaign which was a good laugh and was fun watching Kai take control and be dungeon master.

And while these are all things we enjoy as a family, the one thing I adore doing if I am on my own and it happens to be a rainy day is just to sit and look out my window and enjoy watching the weather.

I love these ideas. Some would be hard for us since we live on the road but playing games is our top thing to do! Thank for sharing
The weather is finally turning in Vancouver! I love a good movie and gaming session on rainy days. Though, with an infant in tow, I’m more inclined to go for rainy strolls with the little guy just to get out of the house!
Love baking with my boys – or being their assistant 🙂
These are great ideas for a rainy day! I especially love baking and the sound of an indoor scavenger hunt. I usually read, clean, or nap haha. Thanks for sharing!
I love these ideas! We are a gaming family too, it’s a super fun way to spend time together
