My morning routine is very rarely the same, but they are far from this calm and relaxing start to the day some expect to have, So I thought I would run you through what my mornings can be like on various times of the week.
Now I am going to do this in a week by week basis as that’s how my weeks work. I share time with my children with their dad who has them for roughly the same amount of time I do so we both do school runs and both have weekends with them. The days when I have them to get to school starts around the 6am mark, My alarm is the first one to go off and of course I place the thing on snooze for half an hour and continue to enjoy cuddles with my youngest who at some point in the night sneaks into my room.

After the snoozing and cuddles we all slowly start to wake up, My middle child’s alarm then goes off at around 7am along with my eldest who, due to being a teenager, is like waking the dead half the time. Once everyone is all up and awake I prep breakfast for Robin (youngest) and the older two, Kai and Amelia help themselves to a breakfast muffin or some cereal and while they are doing that I busy myself with getting lunch boxes and clothes ready for the day.
I then get myself ready, having a nice hot shower and putting my makeup on, it’s a tight schedule but we somehow manage to do all we need within the hour I allow myself in the morning. I am the Queen of getting ready quickly.
School run usually starts at around 8am their maternal grandmother comes to collect myself and the girls, my son makes his way to school as he’s now 14 and we live within walking distance of his secondary school. We drop Amelia off first, then Robin and depending on the day I either go home or head into work.
If I go home and its a day when the children come home to me after school I start getting the house tidy after the morning rush. Although I do treat myself to a nice bowl of porridge and a sweet cup of tea along with watching some YouTube, just allowing myself one hour when I do not do anything and then crack on with the work around the house that needs to be done.

Now some days I do not have work, or my children in my care so there are no alarms or need to wake up early. I take my time and get myself up under my own speed and sometimes remain in my bed clothes for as long as I want.
I enjoy both mornings. But the routine I love the most is the summer holidays or half term mornings. While sometimes I plan things to do during my days off, me and my children love nothing more than to have a nice relaxing day with no plans or expectations.
What does your mornings look like?

Getting into a good morning routine can be a really great way to start the day. It can be an opportunity to prepare and/or fuel ourselves for what comes ahead; I definitely need to get back into a better one—fab post!
I love that you take that hour for yourself on days where you have the children in the morning and after school! That is so good! My mornings usually start with a run somewhere between the hour of 7 and 8. Teenage me would laugh at the thought of that, but I love getting that blast of fresh air first thing!
I feel that after the mad rush of getting them to school its so nice to sit and do nothing for a bit.
