Ever since March 2024 when The Eras Tour was launched onto Disney plus our home has been full of the sounds of Taylor Swift, which I really do not mind at all, we watched the tour and listened to her music throughout the year and decided that what would make a wonderful Christmas present idea (after failing to get actual Eras Tour tickets when she came to the uk in the summer) was to go and watch the next best thing, Taylormania!
We actually got our tickets months in advance, deciding on going to The Apex at Bury St Edmunds as it was the only time that worked around the children’s schedule. My son, who is not much of a fan of Taylor Swift decided against going so I got four tickets for myself, my mum, Amelia and Robin, who the tickets were brought for and hid them away ready for Christmas.
Once the big day came around and after Robin opened up her official swiftie clothes she was given the tickets and we all got very excited and she kept asking when we was going to the show, even to the point that on the day we was due to go watch, she was trying to get ready at least 12 hours before. I think it was safe to assume she was excited!
Driving to Bury St Edmunds was a smooth drive, we of course had Taylor playing throughout the journey singing along to the songs and eating our snacks. we arrived with plenty of time to spare to allow the girls to get themselves some friendship bracelets and to mingle with some of the other the masses of fans waiting to go into their seats.
Our seats, which happened to have been one of the last few left to buy was situated right in the nosebleeds as they say, but I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better spot or view, The Apex was actually better than I expected, I have bad memories of old theatres and being up near the roof finding it hard to see but everything was laid out perfectly.
Taylormania is boasted to be by swifties for swifties and it most certainly was that. Katy came on stage in the lover bodysuit which sparkled away in the stage lights, she even created her own opening similar to the eras tour which if I am honest made me go very weepy, and once Cruel Summer played the group of girls who sat next to me screamed as loud as they could and I spent a lot of it either taking photos, singing along or watching Robin take in every second.
Katy sung through all the different eras, some songs that I hadn’t heard properly before and others, like Willow, that I was so excited she did and even gave us the full 10 minute version of All To Well which has to have been the highlight of the evening having a room full of girls sing/scream along to the lyrics that hold so much emotion was an amazing experience.
We got a surprise song which was Mean, which the girls and I call Atlas’ song as he’s forever a mean kitty and Katy sung a song for a girl in the audience who wanted it to be played for her birthday but that was scheduled for another concert. Everyone got up and shook it off, although as we was up the top we had to dance in our seats and despite embarrassing Amelia I indeed told her to ‘take us to church’ during Don’t Blame Me, I have tried in vain to teach the girls all the chants but sadly it was just me, and of course the rest of the arena joining in.
Ending with Karma which is also another personal favourite and going back to a classic Love Story we was all made to join in with a huge group selfie with the band which they share on the official Instagram
Honestly we had such a fantastic time and I am so glad we all got to experience and join in with other fans singing along with them, Taylor Swift has such a huge impact on everyone and despite not being able to make it to The Eras Tour, We all had such a wonderful time.
Here are some photos that I took of the night.
